With OLED becoming ever more popular for industrial products our partner Bolymin have introduced a small range of OLED character displays designed to be compatible with their existing character LCD modules. Current formats available are 16 characters x 2 lines in both standard and large character formats, 20 characters x 2 lines and 20 characters x 4 lines. White is the primary option however some modules can also be supplied in yellow and green. Each module has a 4 or 8 bit 6800/8080 parallel interface, a serial peripheral interface and an I²C (up to 400kits/s) interface with a full RS232 version coming in 2015. Each module contains 3 sets of CGROM selected by hardware or software plus another benefit is that there are 256 levels of contrast adjustment again controlled via software instead of the usual hardwired pot. All modules are single +5V devices as standard for LCD module compatibility however a +3V option can also be provided if necessary. A superb operating temperature of -40°C ~ +85°C makes OLED the only display choice for true automotive and extreme temperature applications.
